    Family Tips for Croatia

Croatia is great for families: The Adriatic Sea is calm and warm, and distances between beach, old town, and national park are short. Beaches for Children Most coastal beaches are pebble or rock, so swim shoes are advisable. Rajska plaža near Lopar on Rab is a long sandy beach where the water remains shallow far out. The Kraljičina plaža in Nin near Zadar is on a shallow sandy lagoon. Experiences The Sea Organ in Zadar creates sounds with the waves; nearby, the 'Greeting to the Sun' lights up in the evening. The Pula Aquarium is housed in an old fortress and operates a sea turtle rescue station. In the Plitvice Lakes and Krka National Parks, wooden walkways lead over the water; boats and trains shorten the routes. Practical Tips It's hot on the coast in July and August; with children, it's best to spend midday hours in the shade. June and September are quieter and more pleasant. Children require their own identification document.
