About Fernweh

Hi, I’m Felix
I love traveling the world (that’s me at the top, in Kuirau Park in Rotorua, New Zealand) — and I plan every trip for weeks before it actually starts. Hours of dropping pins in Google Maps, sorting places into lists, scrolling through travel blogs in the evenings. And every time, I still buy myself a classic guidebook on top, usually Lonely Planet or Rough Guide, simply because it’s fun to explore a country slowly on paper first. Otherwise I’m just as happy in our camper van in France — but every now and then, the wanderlust kicks in and we’re off again.
Why Fernweh exists
I noticed something along the way: there’s plenty of travel info online, but very few really good online travel guides. Instead you get bounced between personal blogs, SEO articles, and online travel agencies with sponsored content — and it takes real time to separate honest travel information from ad copy. That’s exactly why I built fernweh.guide.

What this is
Fernweh.guide is a digital travel guide for people who plan their own trips and want more than the TripAdvisor top 10. You’ll find curated countries, places, routes, and restaurants here — researched, sorted, put in context.
What Fernweh isn’t
Not a never-ending best-of aggregator that reshuffles the same 25 sights every week. And not a booking portal with a commission model that funnels every accommodation click into an affiliate tracker.
What Fernweh actually does
There’s already plenty of really good travel content out there — video reportages on entire countries, hidden tips in personal blogs, individual restaurant recommendations. Fernweh collects them, sorts them by country and region, and step by step adds its own research and context. So instead of the third top-10 list with the same sights, you’ll more likely find a pointer to a reportage about a mountain village, where someone shows the trattoria in which the grandmother still makes the pasta herself.
