A crescent-shaped pasty filled with beef, potato, swede, and onion, folded at the edge into a thick crimp. This crimp was originally the handle: tin miners in Cornwall ate the pasty with unwashed, arsenic-laden hands and threw it away. The authentic Cornish Pasty has carried a Protected Geographical Indication of the EU since 2011.
