Tiramisù literally means “lift me up.” Hailing from northeastern Italy, this layered dessert is especially claimed by Treviso in Veneto and Friuli. Espresso-dipped ladyfingers are layered with mascarpone, egg yolk, and sugar cream, then topped with cocoa powder. Some recipes add Marsala or a liqueur. It's now found on dessert menus nationwide.
