Marstrand, an idyllic island off Sweden's west coast, is primarily **car-free** and therefore excellent to explore on foot. The island itself has no metro or tram; instead, access is conveniently via the short and regular Marstrandsfärjan from the mainland, which is also part of the Västtrafik network. On the mainland, buses (also Västtrafik) offer good connections to Kungälv and Gothenburg. E-scooters are less common on the small island and only partially practical due to the cobblestones. Taxis or ride-sharing services can be used for getting to the ferry terminal on the mainland, but they play no role on Marstrand itself.
