    Vienna & Region

The capital in the east is most travelers' starting point: Hofburg, Schönbrunn and Stephansdom, coffee houses and Heurige in the outlying vineyards. Vienna is one of the four official UN seats, next to New York, Geneva, and Nairobi.

    Inner City

The 1st district is the historic heart of Vienna and part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Around St. Stephen's Cathedral, featuring a 136-meter south tower, are the shopping streets Graben and Kärntner Straße, the Hofburg (with Imperial Apartments and Spanish Riding School), and the State Opera on the Ringstrasse.
    Wien

    Wien

Austria's capital on the Danube was for centuries the residence of the Habsburgs. Around St. Stephen's Cathedral are the Hofburg, State Opera and the Ringstrasse; to the west is Schönbrunn Palace, and in the Prater, the Giant Ferris Wheel spins. Coffeehouse culture and Heurige are part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.

    Landstrasse & Belvedere

In the 3rd district are the two baroque Belvedere Palaces, built in the early 18th century for Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Upper Belvedere houses the world's largest collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt, including "The Kiss," and tram line D stops right outside.
