Bogor, with over a million inhabitants, is known as "Kota Hujan" (Rain City) due to almost daily thunderstorms. At its heart lies the Kebun Raya Bogor, a botanical garden established in 1817. Right next to it is the presidential palace Istana Bogor, with deer roaming its park. Its compact center is easily explored by Angkot minibuses or Grab. South of the city, the Puncak Highlands begin, home to tea plantations.
