It is known for its light sandy beaches, clear, turquoise waters, and a relaxed atmosphere. The ferry from Ibiza takes approximately 30 minutes. Many visitors explore the flat island by bike or scooter.

    The beach on the narrow peninsula in the north of the island belongs to the Ses Salines Natural Park and is one of Formentera's most famous. It is also reachable by island bus. To protect the Natural Park, the island administration regulates vehicle access in season. You can find current conditions at the Consell de Formentera.

    The lighthouse stands on Formentera's southern tip atop a barren cliff. It gained fame through Julio Medem’s 2001 film Lucía y el sexo. Nearby are several prehistoric sites. Car access is restricted; the Consell de Formentera publishes the current rules.

    The 1861-inaugurated lighthouse stands on the La Mola plateau at the island's east end, above a roughly 158-meter cliff. Since its 2019 renovation, the building hosts a small museum. Beside the tower, a monument honors Jules Verne.

    The fortified church on the main square of Sant Francesc, the island's largest town, was built between 1726 and 1737. Thick, whitewashed walls and an iron-plated door with a loophole were meant to protect it against attackers. Inside, you'll find a simple barrel vault with shallow side chapels.

    Altea on the Costa Blanca, situated between Benidorm and Calp, is known for its old town of whitewashed houses on a hill. The Church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, with its blue-glazed tile domes, forms the centre of the historic quarter. Strolling through the narrow, cobbled streets, you'll pass artists' and artisans' studios as well as small cafés. Altea has long attracted painters, writers, and musicians, which shapes the character of the town. From the old town's viewpoints, you can gaze over the bay and the Mediterranean Sea. To experience Altea's tranquility, it's best to visit the town in the off-season. Also explore the beach promenade, which offers a beautiful contrast to the historic core.
