    Frigiliana, about six kilometers north of Nerja, has been repeatedly awarded as one of Spain's most beautiful and best-preserved villages. Winding Arab-era streets, Morisco past traces, and its location between the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park and the nearby coast shape the village.

    The old Moorish quarter consists of steep, cobbled alleys and whitewashed houses. On the house walls, twelve ceramic plaques from 1982 tell the story of the Morisco rebellion and the Battle of Peñón de Frigiliana in 1569.
