    Village at the Escarpment

Graskop originated in the 19th century as a logger and gold prospector settlement; nearby Pilgrim's Rest is a restored gold mining town from the era, a popular detour. Graskop now lives from tourism along the Panorama Route. Graskop is known for Harrie's Pancakes, serving savoury and sweet pancakes to travellers en route to the Blyde River Canyon.

    Arrival and Orientation

Graskop lies about 400 kilometers east of Johannesburg, a journey of approximately five hours. From here, you reach God's Window, Lisbon Falls, and Pinnacle Rock in minutes via the R534, and the Blyde River Canyon via the R532. You drive about an hour to the Phabeni or Paul Kruger Gate of Kruger National Park. In summer, the high plateau is often foggy; plan viewpoints for the morning.
