    Hancock Gorge (Spider Walk)

    In the narrow Hancock Gorge, you descend a ladder, wade through water, and Spider Walk with hands and feet between the rock walls to Kermit's Pool. Challenging, the rocks are slippery. After rain, the gorge may be closed.

    Fortescue Falls & Fern Pool

    In Dales Gorge, the Fortescue Falls cascade over rock steps into a pool, flowing year-round. A few minutes upstream is the Fern Pool (Jubula), a tranquil pool beneath fig trees. The site is important to the Traditional Owners, please be quiet.

    At Oxer Lookout, four gorges meet: Weano, Red, Hancock, and Joffre. From the platform, you gaze deep down at water and red rock faces. Short, easy walk from the car park.

    The Kalamina Gorge is smaller and quieter than the well-known gorges. A short descent leads to a waterfall with a swimming hole, continuing downstream to the Rock Arch Pool.

    Dining and Drinking

    In the park, there's only the restaurant at the Eco Retreat. Bring supplies for your entire stay; supermarkets are in Tom Price and Newman.

    At the Dales Campground and Eco Retreat there are barbecue areas, fire is generally prohibited.

    History

    The park is the land of the Banyjima, Kurrama and Innawonga, who have lived here for tens of thousands of years. Karijini is the Banyjima name for the Hamersley Range. The park was established as Hamersley Range National Park in 1969 and renamed in 1991.The Karijini Visitor Centre is shaped like a goanna and tells the story of the Traditional Owners. Around the park are some of the world's largest iron ore mines, for example near Tom Price.

    Traveling in Karijini

    The park is located approximately 1,400 kilometers north of Perth. The closest airports are Paraburdoo and Newman; the nearest town is Tom Price, about an hour away. The main roads within the park are paved, and a gravel track leads to Weano Gorge, which is usually passable with a normal car.Refuel in Tom Price or at the Auski Roadhouse; there are no petrol stations in the park. Mobile phone reception is scarce.

    Exmouth

    Exmouth, at the tip of the North West Cape, is the gateway to the Ningaloo Reef and the Cape Range National Park. Here, you can snorkel from the beach over corals and swim with whale sharks in autumn.

    Coral Bay

    Coral Bay is a tiny place on the southern Ningaloo Reef, around 1,100 km north of Perth. The reef starts directly at the beach, and from here, boats go to manta rays and whale sharks.

    Shark Bay

    Shark Bay on the West Coast has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1991: a vast, shallow bay with seagrass meadows, dugongs, the dolphins of Monkey Mia, stromatolites, and a shell beach. A good eight hours' drive north of Perth.

    Broome on Roebuck Bay, with 14,000 residents, is the Kimberley's largest town and western gateway. The town grew from pearl fishing; Chinatown, with tin buildings, pearl shops, and the Sun Pictures open-air cinema, tells the story.Cable Beach, red cliffs at Gantheaume Point, and a tidal range of up to 10 m characterize the surroundings. The dry season, May to October, is high season.

    Kalbarri NP

    Kalbarri National Park, about six hours north of Perth, combines two landscapes: red sandstone gorges along the Murchison River inland and high cliffs on the Indian Ocean. The town of Kalbarri at the river mouth is the starting point.
