Playa del Carmen's center and along the Quinta Avenida are wonderful to explore on foot, as most attractions are close to each other.For longer distances, local "Colectivos" – inexpensive shared taxis – are the main mode of transport; these white minivans follow fixed routes and require cash payment.Taxis are ubiquitous, though negotiating the fare beforehand is essential; ride-sharing services like Uber are often not reliably available due to local conflicts, but apps like Didi might sporadically work.Bicycles and e-scooters offer a flexible option for short distances, with several rental stations throughout the city.There is no subway or tram; for intercity travel, the comfortable ADO buses are the best choice.
