    The painter and writer Santiago Rusiñol, a leading figure of Catalan Modernisme, made the house on Sant Sebastià beach his home and studio from 1893. His collection of wrought iron, as well as paintings and handicrafts, are exhibited; the house has been a public museum since 1933.

    The painter Miquel Utrillo built the palace in the Noucentisme style between 1913 and 1916 directly above the sea in the old town. He incorporated architectural elements from all over Spain, such as a Gothic portal from a palace near Madrid and a door from the Mallorcan Palau de Raixa. The Maricel complex includes an art museum; the palace itself hosts concerts and events.
