    At the seaside end of Rambla Nova, the cliff drops steeply for 23 m; a wrought-iron railing secures the viewpoint. You look out over the sea, harbor, beach, and the Roman amphitheater. Locals say they go to the balcony to 'tocar ferro,' to touch the iron.

    The Roman Amphitheatre lies right by the sea below the old town, outside the former city wall on the Via Augusta. It belongs to the archaeological ensemble of Tarraco, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000. That Tarraco had an amphitheatre, besides a circus and theatre, shows the city's importance in the Roman Empire.

    At the end of the 1st century, under Emperor Domitian, a chariot race track with seating for around 20,000 spectators was built in the upper city, parallel to the Rambla Vella.
