    Valle de Estós

    The approximately 12 km long glacial valley branches off northwest of Benasque and lies within the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. To its north is the Perdiguero Massif (3,221 m); to its south, the Posets (3,375 m). A hiking trail follows the Río Estós to the Refugio de Estós mountain hut.

    The mountain lake lies at approx. 2,025 m below the rock pinnacles of Agujas de Perramó. From the car park at the entrance of the Estós Valley, the trail ascends via the GR 11 and the small lake Ibonet de Batisielles. The round trip is approx. 13 km and 750 vertical meters, taking just under five hours.

    At around 2,070 m at the foot of Aneto, the meltwater of the Ésera plunges over a waterfall and then disappears into a sinkhole. Only 3.6 km away in Arantal, it reappears and flows via the Garonne into the Atlantic instead of the Mediterranean. The waterfall is accessible via an easy hiking trail.
