    Butter, Flowers, and Satire

    Darling was founded in 1853 and named after Charles Henry Darling, then Lieutenant Governor of the Cape Colony. For a long time, the town thrived on dairy farming and wheat. The Wildflower Show has been held since 1917. However, Darling became particularly well-known thanks to Pieter-Dirk Uys, who has been performing cabaret here with his alter ego Evita Bezuidenhout since the 1990s.

    The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is Cape Town's redeveloped old harbour, with Table Mountain as its backdrop. Ferries to Robben Island also depart from here.
