Buriram
CityCulture
Buriram in northeastern Thailand is a city that combines ancient Khmer culture with modern sports enthusiasm. Here you'll find the impressive Phanom Rung Historical Park, a well-preserved Khmer temple complex on an extinct volcano, which serves as an important pilgrimage site. The city is also the heart of Thai sports, known for the Chang International Circuit and the stadium of Buriram United, the region's successful football club. Another cultural highlight is Prasat Muang Tam, a Khmer temple known for its water features and reliefs, often visited in combination with Phanom Rung. Away from the major attractions, Buriram offers insights into authentic Isaan life with its local markets and regional cuisine. The best time to visit is from November to February when the weather is cooler and drier; start temple visits early in the morning to avoid the midday heat.
