Sanur, on the southern east coast, is one of Bali's oldest resorts. An offshore reef keeps the waves at bay; a beach promenade connects hotels, Warungs, and fishing boats. From here, boats depart for Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida.
Sanur is located on the east coast of southern Bali, just over 20 minutes from the airport and ten minutes from Denpasar. An approximately five-kilometer-long paved promenade connects the beaches from Mertasari in the south to the harbor in the north, from which boats depart for the Nusa Islands. Running parallel to it is Jalan Danau Tamblingan with restaurants, shops, and the night market. The reef keeps the waves at bay; however, at low tide, the water recedes considerably. Sanur is quieter than Seminyak and Canggu and popular with families, older travelers, and long-term guests.
In the north, around the harbor, it's bustling; the center around Sindhu and Semawang is the hub with restaurants; in the south lies the quieter Mertasari.
