Munduk lies on a mountain ridge in the northern central highlands, about two and a half hours from the airport. The village stretches along the road that leads from Lakes Beratan, Buyan, and Tamblingan down to the north coast towards Seririt. All around, coffee, cloves, cocoa, and fruit grow on steep slopes, interspersed with gorges and waterfalls. Most accommodations are small bungalow complexes with valley views, often shrouded in mist. Munduk is a destination for hikers and all those wanting to escape the heat of the south; evenings require a jacket.
