Positano, a distinctive village on the Amalfi Coast, is characterized by its vertical architecture, cascading down the steep slopes in terraces towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its pastel-coloured houses are connected by a labyrinth of stairs and narrow alleys, inviting exploration. In the centre, you'll find the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its majolica dome and the 13th-century Byzantine icon of the Black Madonna. Along the coast stretch beaches like the lively Spiaggia Grande and the quieter Fornillo. Positano, once a fishing village, became a hub for artists and intellectuals from the 1950s onwards, which shaped "Moda Positano". For a more relaxed visit, spring or autumn are recommended; note that getting around town is mainly on foot via numerous steps.
