Surf Town on the Indian Ocean

Surfers discovered Jeffreys Bay in the 1960s, soon after "The Endless Summer" made nearby Cape St. Francis popular. The famous Supertubes wave breaks for hundreds of meters on a big southwest swell, especially in the South African winter (June-August). Beginners learn at calm spots and local surf schools. Off the water, surf shops, cafés, and long sandy beaches define the town.

    Arrival and Orientation

Besides the grey giants, you can also spot the other members of the Big Five – lions, leopards, buffalo, and rhinos – as well as zebras and various antelope species. The unique bush and grassland landscape offers an ideal backdrop for wildlife viewing. For the best sightings, plan your drives in the early morning hours or late afternoon, when the animals are most active. Binoculars and plenty of water are essential.
