Petrohue Original
The Saltos del Petrohué, often referred to as 'Petrohue Original', are an impressive natural phenomenon in Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park in Chile. Here you'll find a unique landscape, shaped by the volcanic activity of Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes. The waters of the Río Petrohué cascade over solidified lava flows that have hardened into fascinating basalt formations. These cascades flow into Lago Todos los Santos, whose emerald-green water complements the scenery. The indigenous Huilliche people have used the river for centuries as a vital thoroughfare for trade and transport. Our Tip: Visit the falls in the morning for the best light for photos and to avoid the largest tourist crowds. A stroll along the well-maintained paths offers various perspectives of this natural spectacle.
