    The Chapelle de l'Immaculée-Conception is located in the old Faubourg Richebourg, between the Cathedral and the Jardin des Plantes. Its foundation stone was laid in 1469 by Breton Duke Francis II., and it was built in granite and tuff stone in the Gothic style. It was remodeled in the 17th and 19th centuries, receiving its current name in 1849. The chapel is primarily used for religious services, occasionally also for concerts, lectures, and exhibitions.Practical tip: Check opening hours in advance; outside of services and events, the chapel is often closed. Easily combined with a stroll to the Jardin des Plantes.

    The Jardin des Plantes in Nantes is located opposite the main train station and covers approximately seven hectares. Its history dates back over three centuries, starting as a royal garden for medicinal plants in the late 17th century; it later served for the acclimatization of exotic plants. It is particularly known for its camellia collection, along with old trees, ponds, flowerbeds, and around 800 square meters of 19th-century greenhouses.From 2013 to 2017, the garden also gained eight permanent installations by the artist Claude Ponti, created for the cultural festival Le Voyage à Nantes. Admission is free.Our tip: Visit in late winter or spring when the camellias are blooming, or early in the morning when it's quiet.

    3Dépodépo par C.Ponti

    Dépodépo is a permanent children's playground by artist and children's book author Claude Ponti in the Jardin des Plantes, near the entrance on Rue Gambetta. It was created in 2017 for the cultural festival Le Voyage à Nantes and is designed like a giant's backyard: flowerpots become huts and arbors, complemented by soft-padded hills and narrow underground tunnels for crawling. Access is free. Our tip: A great break with children during a walk through the Jardin des Plantes.
