Teatro Juárez
The Teatro Juárez in Guanajuato, nestled in the heart of Barrio de Pastita, is an outstanding example of Mexican Belle Époque architecture. Opened in 1903 under President Porfirio Díaz, it bears the name of former President Benito Juárez and symbolizes the cultural flourishing of that era. You will be impressed by its imposing Neoclassical facade, featuring eight bronze lions and statues of the Muses on the roof. Inside, an opulent interior awaits, with Moorish influences, richly decorated stucco, velvet, and gold leaf, creating a luxurious atmosphere. To this day, the theater serves as an important venue for operas, theatrical performances, and concerts, and is a central point of the city's cultural life. Our Tip: Visit the theater in the morning to explore the interiors undisturbed, or book a show to experience its magnificent acoustics. For the best photo of the entire facade, position yourself optimally from the adjacent Jardín de la Unión, especially at sunset.
