Torreón nuevo
The Torreón nuevo is located within the historic complex of the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, a city renowned for its colonial heritage. This conservatory, originally the convent of Santa Rosa de Santa María, was founded in the 18th century and is the oldest music conservatory in the Americas. The Torreón, a distinctive tower, integrates into the impressive architecture of the building, which is appreciated for its Baroque and Neoclassical elements. Although the name 'nuevo' (new) suggests a later addition, it is an integral part of the historic ensemble and offers insight into the complex's architectural evolution. Visitors can admire the fine details of the stonework and the harmonious integration of the tower into the overall structure. From certain points in the adjacent Jardín de las Rosas, you get an excellent perspective of the Torreón and the conservatory's facade. Our Tip: Visit the complex in the morning to enjoy the tranquility of the garden and photograph the architecture in the best light. Also check the conservatory's opening hours to potentially get a glimpse into its courtyards.
