    Next to the Ladby Viking Museum stands a faithful replica of the ship from the burial mound, built according to archaeological findings. It shows what the approximately 21-meter-long warship looked like, whose imprints are preserved in the grave.

Around 1900, the area attracted the so-called Funen Painters, an artist group around Johannes Larsen, who painted the island's rural life and nature.The Fjord&Bælt Marine Center combines research and education; here, porpoises and seals are kept and studied.

    Exploring locally

    The Old Town and harbour are close by and easily walkable. Buses connect Kerteminde with Odense in about half an hour; there is no station.To the Ladby Viking Museum and the beaches of the Hindsholm peninsula, it's best to go by bike or car.
