Lagunazo de Moncayuelo
The Lagunazo de Moncayuelo is a characteristic wetland in the heart of Bardenas Reales Natural Park, offering a fascinating glimpse into the unique ecosystem of this semi-desert. As a temporary body of water, whose size and existence largely depend on rainfall, it plays a crucial role for the local fauna. Here you will find a variety of bird species that use the water as a resting and breeding ground, including waders and various duck species. The sparse landscape around the Lagunazo is also home to reptiles and small mammals that have adapted to the extreme conditions. It is a place of tranquility and observation, far from the park's more frequented routes. Our tip: Visit the Lagunazo in spring or autumn, when temperatures are more pleasant and birdlife is particularly active. For the best lighting conditions and to avoid the midday heat, a visit in the early morning or late afternoon is recommended to capture the unique atmosphere and reflections in the water.
