    Historic park by the old city wall and the 17th-century Taconera Bastion. In the former fortress moats, a small animal enclosure has resided since the 1960s, home to deer, peacocks, ducks, swans, and squirrels.

    The church on Calle Mayor houses the baroque chapel of Saint Fermín, built 1696-1717 on a Greek cross plan. Here, the figure of Navarra's co-patron stands most of the year; on July 7th, she is carried in the procession through the city. The church's current facade is from 1901.

    The Gothic church, built in the 13th century, replaced an earlier Romanesque structure and was completed around 1297. Its two towers, reaching up to 55 metres high, once also served for defence; a figure of St. James the Pilgrim stands in the atrium.

    The Gothic Cathedral was constructed from 1392 to 1501 under King Charles III of Navarre, after the nave of the Romanesque predecessor had collapsed. Ventura Rodríguez designed the Neoclassical main facade in 1783. Inside are the alabaster tomb of Charles III and his wife Eleanor, and the Gothic cloister from the 13th and 14th centuries is also a highlight.

    6Calle Estafeta and Encierro route

    The approximately 315-meter-long alley in the old town is the most famous section of the route along which bulls are driven to the arena during the San Fermín festival. Because it runs narrowly between the house walls, the herd often spreads out here. Outside of festival days, Estafeta is a lively old town street.
