    Harbor Bath

    The floating harbor bath in Bassin 7 was designed by Bjarke Ingels: a 50-meter pool in the harbor water, a round diving pool, children's pools, and two saunas. From June to August, it's open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM with lifeguards; entry is free, but spots are limited. From September to May, you can winter bathe in the diving pool on weekend mornings.

    The residential complex with jagged white peaks and blue balconies resembles icebergs and is the district's most recognizable feature. The homes are inhabited; you can see them from the promenade.

    3Lighthouse

    The approximately 142-meter-tall residential high-rise at the tip of Aarhus Ø was completed in 2022 and is Denmark's tallest residential building. On the 44th floor is Restaurant Bavn with views over the city and bay, especially beautiful at sunset. The elevator ride to the top is subject to a fee.

    Aarhus Ø: from Dokk1 to the Lighthouse

    A waterside stroll through the new harbour district: from the Dokk1 library, past the harbour bath in Bassin 7 and the Isbjerget residential complex, all the way to the Lighthouse residential high-rise at the tip of the peninsula. Allow around two hours.

    An offshoot of Restaurant Skovmøllen, which is located in an old water mill in the forest south of the city. Here, you dine directly by the water and enjoy traditional Danish cuisine.

    Tenth and The Fat Grape

    The Restaurant Tiende is located on the 10th floor, with the wine and cocktail bar Den Fede Drue above it on the 11th floor. Both feature terraces and views over the city and bay. The wine list includes approximately 2,700 selections, and the food menu changes with the seasons.

    The harbor district features outdoor dining by the water. The selection is smaller than downtown, but you'll always have a view over the basin or the bay.

    Bassin 7 offers burgers, snacks, and cafes with waterside seating. In summer, it's the liveliest spot in the district.

    Several restaurants are on upper floors or directly by the quays, with bay and city views. For sunset, it's worth reserving a window seat.

    A short walk to the city

    For a wider selection, take the Letbane to the center. Latinerkvarteret and Jægergårdsgade are just under fifteen minutes away.

    Architecture and Urban Development

    Where containers were once handled, the city has been planning a waterfront residential and commercial district since the 2000s. The most famous building is the Isbjerget, with its white jagged peaks; at the tip of the peninsula stands the Lighthouse, one of Denmark's tallest buildings.The harbor bath in Bassin 7 has transformed the district into a gathering spot for the entire city, used for swimming in summer and ice bathing in winter.

    Out and about in Aarhus Ø

    The Letbane runs from the Central Station via Dokk1 to Aarhus Ø and beyond. On foot, it's about 15 minutes from the city center along the harbor. Within the district, you walk or cycle.

Amidst these lie beech forests, fields, small villages, and Bronze Age burial mounds. From the heights, you can look out over Aarhus Bay and Ebeltoft Vig.
